How to build a buy box that stops you wasting credits

A buy box turns your funded file into filters. Here is how to set revenue, time in business, industry, state and amount so you only see deals you can place.

A buy box is the list of filters that describes the deals you can actually fund. Without one, you will buy leads you cannot place, and your cost per funded deal climbs.

Start from your funded file

Pull your last few months of funded deals and look for the pattern. What was the lowest monthly revenue you got approved? The shortest time in business? Which industries funded and which got declined every time? Which states?

The five filters that matter

  • Monthly revenue: set the floor at what your funders accept, not what you wish they accepted.
  • Time in business: most panels have a hard minimum.
  • Industry: skip the ones your funders decline.
  • State: only the states you can work.
  • Amount requested: match the ranges your funders write.

Keep it a little wide at first

A buy box that is too tight starves your reps. Start slightly wider than your funded file, then tighten after a few weeks of data.

Let the software do the filtering

On BrokerSeat, buy box filters decide which leads reach your feed and which ones trigger alerts. Reps stop scrolling past deals you would never fund, and your credits go where they count. Read more about setting this up for a team in MCA leads for ISOs.
