How to choose an MCA lead provider: questions, checks and red flags

Every lead vendor says their leads are the best. The only way to know is to ask the right questions and test with real money. Here is the checklist we would use.

Why the provider matters more than the price

Two leads with the same price can have completely different value. One is a merchant who filled out a form ten minutes ago. The other is a name that has been sold and called for months. Price per lead tells you almost nothing. Source, freshness and how the lead reaches you tell you almost everything.

The six questions to ask

  1. 1Where do your leads come from? Your own ads and forms, partners, or resold lists? A provider that runs its own traffic can tell you exactly how a merchant arrived.
  2. 2Did the merchant agree to be contacted? Ask how consent is captured and stored. You need to be able to answer this if a merchant asks.
  3. 3How fast do leads arrive? Real time should mean seconds or minutes, not a daily file.
  4. 4What data comes with each lead? Business name, owner, phone, email, revenue, time in business, industry, state and amount requested are the basics.
  5. 5What counts as a bad lead, and what do I get back? Look for a written return policy with clear reasons and a clear window.
  6. 6What does it cost and how do I stop? Monthly plans, contracts, minimums and cancellation terms should all be plain before you pay.

Green flags

  • Leads come from the provider's own ads and forms
  • You can see what a lead looks like before you pay for it
  • Price changes with lead age, so you can choose fresh or cheap
  • Delivery by webhook to your CRM, not only email
  • A written return policy with clear reasons
  • A demo you can click through without talking to anyone first
  • No long contracts

Red flags

  • Promises of approval rates, funded deals or a set return on your spend
  • Vague answers about where leads come from
  • No consent record for the merchant
  • Leads delivered as a weekly spreadsheet and called "live"
  • No returns at all, or returns that need a long dispute
  • Pressure to sign a long contract before you can test

How BrokerSeat answers the checklist

  • Source: our own ads and forms. Merchants ask about funding and agree to be contacted.
  • Freshness: leads show up in your feed in real time, priced by age.
  • Visibility: you see business details and what our AI found online before you unlock.
  • Delivery: webhook to your CRM (GoHighLevel and most CRMs work) or Saved Leads with full details and CSV download.
  • Returns: up to 2 a month within 24 hours of unlocking, for a clear reason. Approved returns come back as credits.
  • Terms: monthly plans that turn into credits, no contracts, cancel in Billing.

You can try the demo with sample leads before you request access.

Run a fair test

Pick two providers at most, give each the same budget and the same team, and track every lead to funding. Use the metrics in how to buy MCA leads. The provider with the lower cost per funded deal wins, even if its leads cost more.

Common questions

What should I ask an MCA lead vendor?

Ask where leads come from, how consent is captured, how fast leads arrive, what data comes with each lead, how returns work, and what the plan costs and how to cancel.

Are cheap MCA leads worth it?

Sometimes. Cheap aged leads can work for teams that dial a lot. Judge every source on cost per funded deal, not price per lead.

Does BrokerSeat require a contract?

No. Plans are monthly and you can cancel in Billing. After your paid period ends you have 30 days to use your remaining credits.
