Most first calls fail because the broker tries to sell an advance before the merchant trusts them. The first call has one job: get bank statements and a clear next step.
The five parts
- 1Open: "Hi, this is Sam with Northside Capital, following up on the funding request you just sent."
- 2Confirm the need: how much, what it is for, and how soon.
- 3Qualify lightly: monthly deposits, time in business, any open advances.
- 4Ask for statements: the last three or four months of business bank statements, sent while you are on the phone.
- 5Set the next step: a time to talk once the file is reviewed.
What to leave out
Do not quote rates, approval odds or timing you cannot control. Tell the merchant what happens next and who decides. Overpromising on the first call turns into a complaint on the third.
Make sending statements easy
Send a secure upload link by text or email during the call. Stay on the line until it arrives if you can. Statements received on the first call fund far more often than statements you chase for days.
